It is a true saying, "The horse will pick you." This beautiful PMU horse is Scout. He loves to carriage drive. He's now 7 yrs old.

7 years ago, I was standing in a pasture with about 50 other PMU foals. This one particular PMU colt was the only one that didn't run away from me. In fact, he came up to me and sniffed my arm while I was on my phone and fumbling with my camera. He and I just stood there looking at each other. In my mind and whispering to myself while my heart pounding, "Are you the one? You must be the one." He was so scrawny and super fuzzy with his winter coat.

I was to take him home three days later only to find out that he had pneumonia along with strangles. A few days later I insisted that I take him home. With him being very sick, I learned a lot. One of the few things Scout let me learn on him was how to give injections. He was so patient. Having him extremely ill surely made for a very trusting horse. Instead of running away in fear, he enjoys investigating and then tearing down the "scary" things I set up for him. He is the calmest horse I have ever had the pleasure to be around. We love to play.

The past few years, we've been teaching each other how to drive. In 2008, we graduated from pulling a tire in the pasture to pulling a beautiful red carriage. He enjoys wearing the harness and trotting around the neighborhood with bells on. It is so much fun!

He is just the best horse. I wish I could have more like him!
