In 2006, The United Pegasus Foundation returned these 13 mares to Manitoba, Canada to retire them to pasture.  No one had shown any interest in these mares due to their age and/or temperament.  We have also rescued 12 additional mares and we took on the 2 stallions Salt and Pepper and had them gelded in 2009.  Arrangements were made with a rancher with a really nice ranch, where these mares are turned out in 180 acres pasture.  They will be kept up to date on their immunizations and have their feet trimmed.  In the winter they are provided with shelter and are fed hay.  THEY WILL NEVER BE REBRED. The sponsorship of these horses is $75 per month per horse. You can also help by sponsoring these horses for the full $75 or any partial sponsorship you would like to send.  Your sponsorship is tax-deductable.  Anyone visiting Canada can make an appointment to visit these horses, which are 3 hours outside of Winnipeg.  Also, UPF will be sending a representative each year to check on the welfare of our horses.  This was not an easy decision for UPF, but we are unable to provide this care at this cost in California.  If you are interested in sponsoring a mare, please call our ranch at 661-823-9672 and reference the horse by name and number.
